Rest and Receive: Why Learning to Receive From God Matters

Life is full of noise. Our days are packed with to-do lists, responsibilities, and the constant hum of activity. Even when we stop physically, our minds often keep racing. And yet, as followers of Jesus, we are called to live from a place of rest — a rest that comes from God Himself.

Many of us are good at doing for God. We serve, we give, we pray for others, we read the Bible, we try to live faithfully. But often we forget that the Christian life begins not with doing, but with receiving.

Jesus said:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

— Matthew 11:28

Notice His words: “I will give you.” Not, “Come and work harder,” but “Come and receive.”

Learning to receive is not weakness — it’s the heart of the gospel. We cannot pour out love, grace, or compassion unless we have first been filled by God’s Spirit. When we try to run on empty, we become exhausted, resentful, or burnt out. But when we make space to rest with Him, He replenishes our souls and equips us for the challenges ahead.

This is why Rest and Receive exists: a 30-minute online prayer space where you don’t have to do anything, say anything, or get it “right.” It’s simply a time to pause, breathe, and meet with God. Through guided reflection, you’ll picture a place of deep peace God has prepared just for you. From there, you’ll listen to His voice, receive what He has for you, and go into your week renewed.

You were created to receive His love. When you do, everything else flows naturally — your calling, your relationships, your faith.

✨ Join us every Monday at 8pm for 30 minutes of rest and stillness. Camera off. Free. No pressure. Just you and God. https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule/c17a1979/appointment/50497235/calendar/8637195

Because when you learn to receive from Him, you begin to live as the person you were always designed to be.
